CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The state Public Service Commission says it’s starting a general investigation into the operations of Black Diamond Power.
The commission said it’s fielded many complaints about service and billing.
Black Diamond provides power to about 5,000 customers in parts of Clay, Wyoming and Raleigh counties The utility is currently seeking a rate increase. Customers turned out to speak against it at a public hearing this week in Clay. Another PSC hearing is scheduled for next Tuesday

CHARLESTON, W.Va. –The state Public Service Commission has made a decision regarding utility poles that will support broadband expansion across the state.
In a news release Wednesday, the PSC announced that it has ruled the cost of replacing ‘red-tagged’ utility poles must be covered by the pole owners. The PSC explained that red-tagged poles are those that ‘require replacement due to age, deterioration, safety violations, accident, or any other cause.

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. –The South Charleston Police Department has released the name of the driver who died in a fatal crash on Corridor G in South Charleston Wednesday morning.
Charles Frye, 38, of Branchland was pronounced dead at the scene after the car he was driving slammed into a box truck around 10 a.m. Frye was heading north near Childress Road, when he went across the median and hit the truck head on.
The other driver suffered from serious injuries and is in the hospital.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Jeff Sandene, the current Chief Financial Officer for Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) will be taking the reins of the Vandalia Health system next year.
“It’s a great honor and I’m very excited, but at the same time I’m very humbled to be able to lead the organization after Dave Ramsey. Dave has been a great mentor for me,” Sandene told MetroNews.
