A lawsuit has been settled over a state Capitol mural depicting scenes that include an image of the former governor’s well-known dog.
The image depicted on a knoll among dancers and musicians looks a lot like “Babydog.” Much of the legal conflict, though, focused on whether the murals went forward without adequate public comment or oversight.
The lawsuit against the West Virginia Capitol Building Commission and former arts secretary Randall Reid-Smith had claimed the mural in the Rotunda was

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — No injuries have been confirmed in a train/vehicle collision in downtown Bridgeport.
Police and fire were called to the train crossing at Main Street just before 9 p.m. and found those in the vehicle were able to exit the vehicle prior to the collision.
Other intersections in the downtown area were disrupted during the cleanup and investigation.
The Bridgeport Police Department is conducting the investigation.

LOGAN, W.Va. –Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College (SWVCTC) is heading in the right direction following the West Virginia Council for Community and Technical Education’s takeover of the Board of Governors.
Interim President Dr. Corley Dennison, who was appointed after former President Pamela Alderman was placed on administrative leave in April, provided an update to the council during a meeting Thursday afternoon.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Despite a recent hurdle, the state is set to finalize the sale of four state-run healthcare facilities.
The Marx Development Group will be purchasing the John Manchin Center in Fairmont, Hopemont Hospital in Terra Alta, Jackie Withrow Hospital in Raleigh County and Lakin Hospital in Mason County for $60 million.
