HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The Amazon Customer Service Center will be closing next May, according to a company representative.
While not much information has been released about the company’s long-term plans for the facility, it has been reported that all associates will keep stay employed. Workers will retain their positions, wages, and current benefits, but will work in a virtual capacity.
Most jobs at the Huntington facility have been customer support and logistics roles.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The PEIA Finance Board gave employees and retirees a chance to speak about the agency’s proposed changes Thursday.
Around 50 people made their way to the state Culture Center in Charleston, with over a dozen people choosing to address the board about the changes.
The agency’s proposal for next year includes a 3% premium increase for employees and their employers. The changes also include a $200 monthly spousal surcharge increase.
If approved, the changes would go into effect

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — State leaders reacted Thursday to the news of the death of coal miner Steve Lipscomb.
Lipscomb, 42, of Elkview, a shift foreman, died in the Rolling Thunder Mine in Nicholas County. His body was located Thursday morning. Mine owner, Alpha Metallurgical Resources, said he was last seen helping those on his crew get to safety when a large amount of water entered the mine last Saturday.
