Kanawha has joined several other counties across West Virginia with a court case over religious exemptions to the vaccines required for public school.
And a case has been filed in magistrate court in Jefferson County as well.
Similar court cases have been playing out in Raleigh, Berkeley, Gilmer and Mineral counties. Judges have split so far on lawsuits from families suing over religious exemptions to mandatory school vaccinations. A permanent injunction case picks up again next week in Raleigh

CHARLESTON, W.Va. –Over a dozen Marshall alumni were joined by university officials Thursday evening at the Ruffner House in Charleston for the official launch of the Kanawha Valley Alumni Chapter.
Chapter President Melanie Pagliaro said the group has been meeting quietly for over a year, but they just hadn’t held a formal launch event until now.

ELKINS, W.Va. — A Randolph County pastor is charged with allegedly using a computer to solicit an underage girl.
The Mountain Region Drug and Violent Crime Task Force alleges Kevin Curtis Jones, 33, of Elkins, the pastor at Summit Church, used a phone to seek a “clandestine relationship“ with the girl in December 2023,
According to the criminal complaint, the girl attended Jones’ church. She is now older than 18.
The charge against Jones is a felony. He was arrested Thursday. Bail was set at
