MOUNT HOPE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Nearly 1,000 customers are without power in Fayette County as of Sunday night.
According to Appalachian Power, 932 customers are without power in the Mount Hope and Price Hill area of the county.

Group rescued in Greenbrier County cave

FRANKFORD, W.Va. — A group of cave explorers had to be rescued Saturday evening in Greenbrier County.
A Facebook post from the Frankford Volunteer Fire Department said nine people were 2,500 feet into the cave near Frankford.
“Three separate rescue teams made entry into the cave system and successfully rescued all individuals,” the post said.
The initial call for assistance came in at about 8 p.m., crews cleared the scene at about 11 p.m.

Man arrested after hitting a pedestrian and fleeing, said he thought he hit a “bird”

BOONE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Boone County man is facing charges after a pedestrian was struck along West Virginia Route 85 near Van Thursday night.
According to the West Virginia State Police, Trooper First Class A.R. Workman responded to the scene around 8:22 p.m. on October 2, 2025, after receiving a report of a pedestrian hit along the northbound lane near Van Park.
When first responders arrived, they found the victim lying partially over an embankment roughly 50 yards north of the park.
