Hundreds of Justice lots at Glade Springs are up for foreclosure sale

Several hundred lots owned by Justice Holdings are up for foreclosure sale, according to a legal notice in this morning’s Beckley Register-Herald.

Justice Holdings is company owned by the family of Senator Jim Justice, R-W.Va.
The sale is of almost 400 lots at Glade Springs Resort in Raleigh County where the Justice company has been at odds for several years with the community association over homeowners fees.
The special commissioner sale is listed for 9 a.m. Oct. 29.

Raleigh County Commission approves panhandling ordinance

RALEIGH COUNTY, W.Va. –Raleigh County is the latest county to pass an ordinance addressing panhandling.
“The County Commission passed the ordinance during its Tuesday meeting. Raleigh County joins Monongalia County, which recently approved a similar measure addressing panhandling. The City of Wheeling in Ohio County has also enacted an ordinance.

Black Walnut Festival underway in Spencer

SPENCER, W.Va. –This weekend marks the end of the 2025 Black Walnut Festival currently underway in Spencer.
The festival, now in its 71st year, celebrates the local black walnut tree and its products.

Concord University announces metro tuition extension for Virginia students

ATHENS, W.Va. –Concord University is extending their metro tuition for students from Virginia.
In a news release Thursday afternoon, the university announced the Board of Governor’s approved of a measure that gives Virginia students in-state tuition.

Randolph BOE votes to close Harman, North schools

ELKINS – One year and seven days after the Randolph County Board of Education first released information about an effort to close multiple county schools, the BOE voted Wednesday night to close Harman K-12 School and North Elementary School.

Raleigh County couple charged after children found unsupervised amid drugs and weapons

SOPHIA, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Raleigh County couple has been charged after police say they left their three young children unsupervised for more than 12 hours in an apartment where drugs and weapons were present.

State EMS certification scores set new records

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Emergency medical score pass rates are higher than ever before, and the protocols used by EMS teams throughout the state are in the top 15 in the country.
