From mail clerk to Brigadier General, Cadle’s career at National Guard covered it all

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — West Virginia National Guard Brigadier General Mike Cadle turned 60 Saturday and retired Sunday after a 40-year career serving his nation and the Mountain State.

Jackson County museum director reacts following AmeriCorps cuts made by DOGE

RAVENSWOOD, W.Va. — With the dismantling of around 85% of AmeriCorps staff and the termination of nearly $400 million dollars in grants through the program recently authorized by DOGE, a Jackson County museum says they are really feeling the blow.
The AmeriCorps program at the Great Bend Museum in Ravenswood has been terminated after a directive from the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, for short.

WVU student recovering, another charged in Morgantown stabbing

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — One WVU student is in custody and another is recovering following a stabbing Friday night.
Police responded to a report of a fight at 10:30 p.m. in the 500 block of Price Street and found the victim with a stab wound to the leg.
Police arrested Kaden James Vinar, 21, of Champlin, Minnesota, and charged him with felony malicious wounding.
Vinar has been arraigned in Monongalia County Magistrate Court.

Traffic stop in Logan County leads to recovery of hundreds of grams of illegal drugs

CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — Three people are in jail after troopers uncovered hundreds of grams of illicit drugs following a traffic stop in Logan County Saturday.
The West Virginia State Police say their Logan Detachment was conducting a traffic stop in the Chapmanville area Saturday when they noticed the odor of marijuana emitting from inside a vehicle.

North Central West Virginia Airport’s new terminal tentatively scheduled to open in October

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — The North Central West Virginia Airport is finishing up construction on its new terminal, aiming to open in October, according to Airport Director Rick Rock.

Rock said the terminal construction is complete and now outside infrastructure is being finalized. The new terminal will allow for increased parking for aircraft and cars.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — There have been additional job cuts at NIOSH in Morgantown.
The cuts apparently came at the end of the work day Friday.
