Major manufacturing company, Niterra celebrates the opening of its new state-of-the-art distribution center and three decades of operations in West Virginia

SISSONVILLE, W.Va. — A Kanawha County company that manufactures NGK spark plugs and NTK oxygen sensors is honoring its past and celebrating a major new advancement towards its future.
Niterra North America representatives came together with those from its Japanese partnering corporation as well as with West Virginia state and federal officials Friday to celebrate the company’s 30 year anniversary and cut the ribbon on its new, state-of-the-art distribution center at its Sissonville campus.

Smoke continues from abandoned mine fire in Marion County

WHITE HALL, W.Va. — An ongoing fire in a pre-law coal mine in Marion County that has been monitored by the state Department of Environmental Protection has flared, leading to reports of smoke and calls to 911.
Increased smoke has been reported off Opal Drive near Winston’s Wheel and Tire since Monday. Members of the Valley Volunteer Fire Department have responded to numerous smoke reports and suspected carbon monoxide (CO) contamination at the tire store.

Harrison County angler lands a record largemouth bass

LUMBERPORT, W.Va. — West Virginia has seen several fish records fall in the past couple of years, but records regarding black bass in the Mountain State area rare. Judge sides with Marshall graduate student in court fight over immigration status

A federal judge has ruled in favor of an international student at Marshall University who has been fighting to be sure his legal status will remain fully restored.

Governor issues vaccine exemptions guidance; bishop says Catholic schools will maintain requirements

Governor Patrick Morrisey has issued guidance reflecting his administration’s intent to maintain an executive order allowing religious exemptions to West Virginia’s school vaccination policies — directing public school officials to comply and asking private schools to do so.

Fatal crash in Boone County under investigation

FOSTERVILLE, W.Va. — A person was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Boone County Friday morning.
The sheriff’s department said the wreck occurred at around 6:20 a.m. in the Fosterville area.
Volunteer fire crews were among those responding to the scene of the head-on crash.
The names of those involved haven’t been released.
