Classroom 2 Career initiative continues work to pair West Virginia students with career pathways

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Efforts to expand career pathways for West Virginia high school students continue to grow.
West Virginia Director of Career Technical Education Adam Canter shared a positive update about the Classroom 2 Career (C2C) initiative during the June state Board of Education meeting.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals system is set to expand its intensive care capabilities with the latest round of healthcare infrastructure investments from the WVU Health System.

Democrats vote for Mike Pushkin to remain as chairman

Mike Pushkin will remain chairman of West Virginia’s Democratic Party.
Pushkin, who has been chairman for the past four years, was challenged by the first vice chair, Teresa Toriseva.
On Saturday, during a regular organizational meeting, Pushkin won on a 43-32 vote. Pushkin walked across the room and shook Toriseva’s hand.

Holly Grove getting a makeover on the Capitol grounds

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The oldest building on the West Virginia Capitol Complex is undergoing a complete renovation. Work started last month on Holly Grove and is expected to be completed by January 2027.
“It’s a project to really bring it back to life, to preserve the building, and make some useable space in it,” said Bob Kilpatrick, Director of the West Virginia General Services Division.

Teamsters Local 175, striking workers at The Beverage Market continue raising awareness about dispute with company

SISSONVILLE, W.Va. — A group of striking workers at The Beverage Market held a community event Sunday to raise awareness about their ongoing dispute with the company.
49 Teamsters Local 175 union members are on the picket line against the Beverage Market. The workers began their strike May 12, ten days after unanimously authorizing a strike due to concerns over concessionary proposals from the Beverage Market.

Logan County man arrested after leading police on chase while drunk

MALLORY, W.Va. — A Logan County man is in custody after leading police on a vehicle chase while intoxicated.
John Adkins
John Roger Adkins, 21, of Mallory, was arrested Thursday. He was charged with 21 counts, including driving under the influence, reckless driving, and destruction of property.
Adkins is accused of arguing with a gas station employee, bringing Logan County deputies to the scene.
When law enforcement arrived, Adkins allegedly got in his vehicle and recklessly departed the scene.

West Virginia Parkways Authority examines personnel, operational policies

CHARLESTON, W.Va. –West Virginia Parkways Authority Executive Director Chuck Smith says the authority has begun discussions on updating policies throughout the system.
