UMWA’s Sanson concerned MSHA may offer compromise on silica dust rule

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The United Mine Workers Union has its eyes on an October status hearing in connection with the latest delay of the implementation of the Silica Rule.
The rule, the final form was approved by the U.S. Department of Labor under the Biden administration in April 2024, has been hung up in the courts. The latest challenge if from the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association (NSSGA).

One hurt in Tucker County motorcycle crash

PARSONS, W.Va. – A motorcycle rider is recovering at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital after a crash involving an ambulance accident early Sunday morning.
State police were called to the scene on Seneca Trail, near the Tucker County High School just after midnight.
HealthNet transported the victim for treatment.
No other information has been released.

Hedgesville man killed in Morgan County motorcycle crash

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — A crash Sunday morning in Morgan County claimed the life of a motorcyclist.
Morgan County Sheriff Johnnie Walter tells MetroNews that Christopher Vincent Leone, 39 of Hedgesville was riding a 2025 Harley Davidson westbound on Winchester Grade Road behind another rider.
Leone reportedly lost control and left the right hand side of the roadway before hitting the embankment.
The other rider did not realize his riding partner had crashed until he got to Sheetz down the road

State of West Virginia sues national pharmacy benefit manager over opioid crisis

Attorney General J.B. McCuskey announced a lawsuit against Express Scripts, a pharmacy benefit manager, alleging its central role in the opioid crisis.

Toyota to add a child learning center for employees at Putnam County site

BUFFALO, W.Va. — Toyota Motor Manufacturing West Virginia has announced plans to establish another amenity for employees at their Putnam County facility. The company plans to construct a child care and early learning center to offer those services to employees during their shifts at the plant.
