Westside tops Summers County for key road win

HINTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Class AA No. 15 Westside Renegades earned a much-needed victory Friday night, defeating the Summers County Bobcats 32-16 on the road.
The win moves Westside to 4-3 on the season as the Renegades look to stay in the playoff picture. Summers County, still searching for its first win, falls to 0-7.

Cavaliers claim homecoming victory over Montcalm

CHARMCO, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Class A No. 15 Greenbrier West Cavaliers celebrated homecoming night in style Friday with a 27-6 win over the No. 13 Montcalm Generals, keeping their postseason hopes alive.
The Cavaliers improved to 3-5 on the season, controlling the game on both sides of the ball to secure the much-needed victory. Montcalm fell to 2-4 with the loss.

Mercer County man arrested after shooting at vehicle occupied by four teens, one infant

BLUEFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A 25-year-old Bluefield man has been arrested after allegedly firing multiple shots at a vehicle carrying five minors near Mercer Mall on Thursday, October 16, Mercer County authorities reported.
The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched around 3:38 p.m. to 360 Napa Lane after reports of a shooting near the intersection of Mercer Mall Road and Bulltail Hollow Road.

According to the filing, Stand Energy is requesting a certificate of need to offer, render, furnish, or supply natural gas to the public.

Elkins passes LGBTQ+ fairness ordinance

ELKINS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The City of Elkins has officially joined a growing list of West Virginia municipalities taking steps to expand civil rights protections for LGBTQ+ residents.
On Thursday night, the Elkins City Council voted 8-2 to adopt Ordinance 348, which prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in employment, housing, and public services, according to Fairness West Virginia.
