FLAT TOP, WV (LOOTPRESS)— A Mercer County man was arrested Friday evening after reportedly exposing himself to a state trooper responding to a domestic disturbance call, according to the West Virginia State Police.
Around 7:59 p.m. on October 10, 2025, Mercer County 911 dispatched a trooper to the Flat Top area following a report from a caller, who said Cody Hicks was throwing and breaking items inside the home.

BLUEFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) — What began as a routine traffic stop for high-beam headlights turned into a major drug bust Friday night, according to the Bluefield Police Department.
Around October 17, 2025, a Bluefield patrolman traveling east on College Avenue noticed a silver Dodge Avenger heading in the opposite direction with its high beams on and no functioning license plate lights. When the driver failed to dim the headlights, the officer turned around to initiate a stop.

Bluefield Man Arrested After Shooting at Car Carrying Teens and Infant Near Mercer Mall

PRINCETON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Bluefield man was arrested Thursday afternoon after allegedly firing multiple rounds into a vehicle carrying four teenagers and an infant near the Mercer Mall, according to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office.

CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Internal Revenue Service has filed notices of a federal tax lien against West Virginia Sen. Jim Justice, the latest in a series of financial issues involving the former governor, his family, and their network of businesses, according to POLITICO.

MINERAL COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A head-on collision on Northwestern Turnpike near Cedar Point Lane Saturday morning sent four people to area hospitals, according to the New Creek Volunteer Fire Department.

Federal shutdown causes delays for SNAP benefits in West Virginia

CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The West Virginia Department of Human Services (DoHS) announced that the ongoing federal government shutdown is causing delays in the issuance of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
According to the department, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service (USDA FNS) has directed West Virginia and other state SNAP agencies to delay issuing October 2025 benefits that were approved on or after October 16.
