Crews rescue multiple explorers trapped in cave in Greenbrier County

GREENBRIER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Emergency crews from several agencies worked together Saturday night to rescue a group of people trapped deep inside a cave along Vago Road.
The call came in at 8:16 p.m., according to the Frankford Volunteer Fire Department.

West Virginia State Parks and Staff Honored at National Conference

CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – West Virginia State Parks officials announced that the parks system and staff received national recognition during the 63rd annual National Association of State Park Directors (NASPD) conference, hosted earlier this month at Canaan Valley Resort State Park.
During the conference, leaders from state parks systems across the country honored Scott Durham with the NASPD History Award for his 53 years of service and innovative contributions to West Virginia’s state parks.

MOUNT HOPE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Nearly 1,000 customers are without power in Fayette County as of Sunday night.
According to Appalachian Power, 932 customers are without power in the Mount Hope and Price Hill area of the county.

Man arrested after hitting a pedestrian and fleeing, said he thought he hit a “bird”

BOONE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Boone County man is facing charges after a pedestrian was struck along West Virginia Route 85 near Van Thursday night.
According to the West Virginia State Police, Trooper First Class A.R. Workman responded to the scene around 8:22 p.m. on October 2, 2025, after receiving a report of a pedestrian hit along the northbound lane near Van Park.
When first responders arrived, they found the victim lying partially over an embankment roughly 50 yards north of the park.
