The Salvation Army of Beckley Provides a Summer Food Service Program

BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Salvation Army announced its sponsorship of the federally funded Summer Food Service Program.  The camp will be held at 2871 Robert C Byrd Drive from June 16th-August 4th.

“Wanted All Of This” – Man tried to entice 14-year-old for sex

WOOD COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A West Virginia man is behind bars after he tried to entice, who he thought was a 14-year-old girl for sex.
According to detectives, in early April, Patrick Aaron Page made contact through Facebook Messenger with a female undercover from the Parkersburg Police Department, whom he thought was a 14-year-old juvenile.

Woman admits to stealing over $328K in West Virginia pension payments

CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Florida woman has pleaded guilty to illegally collecting more than $328,000 in West Virginia public employee pension benefits over a 15-year period.
Semiha Nilgun Gencsoy, 71, of Fort Lauderdale, admitted Tuesday in federal court to one count of possession of stolen money, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia.

Worker killed in industrial accident at West Virginia chemical plant

MARSHALL COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Cameron man was killed Sunday evening in a workplace accident at the Westlake Chemical Plant in Proctor, according to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office.
Steven E. Chambers, 44, was performing maintenance work on a high-pressure water line when the line exploded, causing him to fall from a ladder positioned approximately 10 to 20 feet above the ground.

Multi-vehicle crash shuts down West Virginia interstate for hours

BERKELEY COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A series of collisions involving multiple vehicles shut down a section of Interstate 81 in Berkeley County early Tuesday morning, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.

Summers County High School evacuated, police present

SUMMERS COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – UPDATE 5/14/25 10:57 AM: Summers County Schools Superintendent Dr. Linda Knott has provided an update on the evacuation.
According to Dr. Knott, a bomb threat was called in at Summers County High School Wednesday morning prior to the start of the school day.
