Mercer County Prosecutor Brian K. Cochran announces 2026 candidacy for Circuit Court Judge

PRINCETON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Mercer County Prosecuting Attorney Brian K. Cochran has announced his candidacy for Circuit Court Judge in the May 2026 election, a seat that will become vacant with the retirement of Judge William J. Sadler at the end of 2025.

Beckley Police say 911 call spreading on social media “completely unfounded”

BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A 911 call made early Sunday morning led to widespread social media speculation about possible deceased children at an apartment complex in Beckley, but police say the report was false.

One person dead following multi-vehicle crash on I-77 in Virginia

VIRGINIA (LOOTPRESS) – One person was killed early Sunday morning in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 77 in Carroll County involving two tractor-trailers, a pickup truck, and a car, Virginia State Police reported.
The crash occurred around 5:09 a.m. on Nov. 30 in the northbound lanes near mile marker 8.

Black Diamond rates continue as is

CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS)  – The Public Service Commission of West Virginia determined Wednesday to continue current rates for Black Diamond Power Co. while it conducts a general investigation into the company.
