Oak Hill man sentenced to more than three years in federal drug case

OAK HILL, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An Oak Hill man has been sentenced to more than three years in federal prison for multiple methamphetamine and fentanyl distribution offenses, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.
John Gray, 40, of Oak Hill, received a sentence of three years and one month, followed by three years of supervised release.

Raleigh County to hold full-scale disaster exercise at Raleigh General Hospital

BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Raleigh County Emergency Services will conduct a full-scale disaster exercise at Raleigh General Hospital on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025, between 9:55 a.m. and noon, according to a press release from the Raleigh County Emergency Services Authority.

Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Southern West Virginia and Southwest Virginia

BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for portions of southwest Virginia and southeast and southern West Virginia, with forecasters warning of accumulating snow and hazardous travel conditions.

Public Hearing Scheduled for West Virginia American Water Rate Cases

CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Public Service Commission of West Virginia has scheduled a virtual and in-person public comment hearing on December 15 for two rate cases filed by West Virginia-American Water Co.
In May, the company requested approval for a $46 million increase in water rates and a $1.4 million increase in sewer rates. The company proposes implementing the increases in two phases: addendum period 1, effective March 2026; and addendum period 2, effective March 2027.
