PUTNAM COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A domestic disturbance at a local grocery store led to the arrest of a Putnam County woman after she allegedly threatened to kill her mother and violated a court-ordered bond agreement.

Sidney Sims of Bluefield sentenced to prison

MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Sidney Jordan Sims, age 31, of Bluefield, West Virginia, was sentenced to 5 years in prison for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person and 1-5 years in prison for Attempting to Disarm a Police Officer. 
Mercer County Prosecuting Attorney Brian K. Cochran said Bluefield Police arrested Sims on March 31, 2024.  Cochran noted that Sims was indicted by the June 2024 Mercer County Grand Jury and pleaded guilty on March 4, 2025.
