Parkways Authority warns of heavy Memorial Day traffic on Turnpike

CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The West Virginia Parkways Authority is advising motorists to prepare for heavy traffic along the West Virginia Turnpike during Memorial Day weekend, from Friday, May 23, through Monday, May 26, 2025.
Traffic is expected to peak on Friday and Monday, with a projected total of approximately 237,000 vehicles using the Turnpike over the four-day holiday weekend.

West Virginia Office of Energy announces funding for additional energy efficiency projects

CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The West Virginia Office of Energy (WVOE) announced that another round of funding is available to eligible local government entities and nonprofits through its Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant program.

AAA: More than 200,000 West Virginians Expected to Travel for Memorial Day Weekend

BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — AAA is forecasting a busy Memorial Day travel period both across the country and throughout the Mountain State, marking a strong start to the 2025 summer travel season.
According to AAA, 215,937 West Virginians are expected to travel 50 miles or more from home between May 22 and May 26, a 3.2% increase from 2024. The vast majority — 89%, or 192,928 travelers — will be hitting the road, also up 3.2% from last year.
