West Virginia to begin automatic LIEAP application mailings in January 2026

CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The West Virginia Department of Human Services (DoHS) announced it will begin automatically mailing applications for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) starting January 5, 2026, marking the official start of the new LIEAP season.
According to DoHS and its Bureau for Family Assistance, the automatic mailing is intended to help ensure timely access to heating assistance for some of the state’s most vulnerable residents.

Mountaineer pipeline replacement agreement OK’d

CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Public Service Commission of West Virginia endorsed a settlement agreement Wednesday to provide an additional $5.2 million to Mountaineer Gas Co. for pipeline replacement and other infrastructure upgrades.
The agreement negotiated among the parties involved the company’s infrastructure and replacement expansion program (IREP). The company asked for the increase on July 31.
The rates are effective January 1, 2026.

Raleigh County man sentenced to federal probation in bankruptcy money laundering case

RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Raleigh County man has been sentenced in federal court for money laundering related to false disclosures during a bankruptcy proceeding.
James E. Monroe Jr., 60, of Daniels, was sentenced to three years of federal probation, including six months of home detention, after being convicted of money laundering.
