Gov. Morrisey urges Virginia residents to flee to West Virginia following Democrats’ victory

CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Following a large Democratic victory in Virginia from the governor’s race to statehouse races, West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey is urging Virginia residents to move to the Mountain State.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday evening, Morrisey told Virginia residents that now is their time to escape.

HINTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Summers County law enforcement arrested three individuals Wednesday following separate drug-related investigations, officials reported.

Senator proposes bill to withhold Congressional pay during government shutdown

WASHINGTON, D.C. (LOOTPRESS) – Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) has introduced legislation that would suspend pay for members of Congress until the federal government reopens, as the country faces a month-long shutdown that has become the longest in history.
Kennedy’s two bills, the No Shutdown Paychecks to Politicians Act and the Withhold Member Pay During Shutdowns Act, would halt pay for senators and representatives during the shutdown.

Beckley to install “Say No to Panhandling” signs at city intersections

BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Beckley City Council voted unanimously Tuesday night to install “Say No to Panhandling” signs at city intersections and ban panhandling at intersections deemed unsafe.

WVDNR Continues Trout Study During Fall Stocking Season

CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR) today announced that the agency is continuing its trout harvest rate study through the fall trout stocking season to better understand how long trout stay in stocked streams, how they move over time and whether they survive through the summer.
As part of the effort, WVDNR hatchery staff recently released rainbow and golden rainbow trout marked with unique numbered blue tags into waters during fall stockings.

Mingo PSD ordered to submit corrective plans

MINGO COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Public Service Commission of West Virginia ordered a troubled southern public service district to submit a 10-point corrective action plan to address customer complaints and also told it to make an adjustment to one of its rates.
The Commission stopped short, however, of declaring the Mingo County Public Service District was distressed or failing, nor did the PSC appoint a receiver to operate it.
