Beckley Golden Corral offering free kids’ meals during SNAP benefit reductions

BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Golden Corral restaurant in Beckley has announced it will offer free meals to children during the ongoing reduction of SNAP benefits.
According to the restaurant, children age 12 and under can receive a free meal when accompanied by an adult who presents an EBT card and purchases a buffet meal.

Wildfire in Monongahela National Forest grows to up to 80 acres, 30% contained

PENDLETON COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A wildfire burning south of Circleville near the Big Mountain area in Pendleton County in  Monongahela National Forest has grown to an estimated 70 to 80 acres, according to officials managing the response.
The blaze, known as the Woodside Fire, was first reported on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, when a private landowner spotted smoke and alerted authorities.

Wyoming County man sentenced to prison on drug charges

WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Herndon man has been sentenced to prison after being convicted of drug-related offenses in Wyoming County.
Wyoming County Prosecuting Attorney Derek Laxton announced that Chad Franklin Simmons, 46, was sentenced to three to 30 years in prison following convictions for Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine and Conspiracy to Deliver Cocaine.
