More than 1 million transactions expected on West Virginia Turnpike this holiday season

CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The West Virginia Parkways Authority expects 1,065,000 vehicle transactions on the West Virginia Turnpike over the holiday season that began Friday, December 19, 2025.
The 10-day season between Christmas and New Year’s sees some of the heaviest travel on the Turnpike. Turnpike travel estimates include:

Friday, December 19: 119,000 transactions.
Saturday, December 20: 117,000 transactions.
Sunday, December 21: 98,000 transactions.
Monday, December 22: 107,000

One woman dead after vehicle strikes tree in West Virginia

BERKELEY COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A 46-year-old Falling Waters woman was killed late Thursday night in a single-vehicle crash on Williamsport Pike, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched to the crash at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Dec. 18 in the 9300 block of Williamsport Pike after receiving a report of a passenger vehicle that had struck a tree and an unresponsive driver. Deputy Keller was the first to respond to the scene.
