First widespread snowfall in West Virginia expected early Monday

CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Most West Virginians will see their first flakes of the season early next week.
According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, rain showers will mix with and change to snow showers Sunday evening, beginning in the higher elevations and spreading into the lowlands before sunrise Monday morning.

Investigation underway after altercation at Summers County High School

SUMMERS COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Summers County Sheriff’s Office responded Friday, November 7, 2025, to a reported altercation at Summers County High School involving several juveniles and one adult.
In a press release, Chief Deputy T.S. Adkins said, “Due to the involvement of minors, specific details about the case cannot be released at this time.”

Two West Virginians killed in head-on collision

WASHINGTON COUNTY, PA (LOOTPRESS) – Two West Virginia residents died Friday evening in a head-on collision on Interstate 70 in Washington County, Pennsylvania, authorities said.
Pennsylvania State Police reported the crash occurred around 5 p.m. near Exit 6 when an eastbound sedan crossed the grass median and collided with a westbound SUV. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

Supreme Court temporarily halts order requiring full SNAP funding

(LOOTPRESS) – Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson on Friday temporarily paused a lower court order that would have required the Trump administration to immediately provide full food stamp benefits to tens of millions of Americans.
The move gives the administration short-term relief as it continues to fight the issue in court during the ongoing government shutdown.

LINDSIDE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Class AA No. 9 James Monroe Mavericks closed out their regular season in convincing fashion Friday night, defeating the Class A No. 7 Tug Valley Panthers 49-6 at home.

SUMMERSVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Ripley Vikings ended their season on a strong note Friday night, earning a 34-19 road victory over the Class AAA Nicholas County Grizzlies.
Ripley’s offense found its rhythm early, building a lead that the Vikings maintained throughout the game. The Grizzlies battled to stay within reach but couldn’t overcome Ripley’s steady offensive performance.
