BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A dispute over a wallet and cellphone escalated into a reported knife threat at a Beckley Walmart, leading to an arrest and felony charges.
According to the Beckley Police Department, officers responded on December 18, 2025, to a brandishing complaint at the Walmart located at 1330 N. Eisenhower Drive. The victims were later instructed to report to the police department to provide statements.

WVDOH awards contract for Mercer County bridge rehabilitation

MERCER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A project to renovate the eastbound and westbound spans of the Oakvale Bridge in Mercer County is among 11 construction projects awarded by the West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) on Monday, December 22, 2025. The projects are from a bid letting conducted Tuesday, December 9, 2025.
Brayman Construction Corporation was awarded the contract for $10,693,066.17.
The pair of bridges carries US 460 over Fivemile Creek in Mercer County. The bridges, built in 1972,

Settlement Means Lower Power Bills for Mon Power, Potomac Edison Customers

CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Public Service Commission of West Virginia accepted a settlement agreement Tuesday that will decrease by 0.1 percent the average monthly bill of customers of Monongahela Power Co. and The Potomac Edison Co.
The agreement adjusts rates overall for fuel costs for the two by $14 million to be effective January 1, 2026, but average monthly residential rates should decrease by 12 cents to $137.31.
The parties involved in the negotiations filed the settlement agreement
